Accounting by PORTOLAN with a new Java Client
Accounting by PORTOLAN: taking the new Java Client to the IT & Business
Ilsfeld, September 2009.The PORTOLAN Commerce Solutions GmbH, a professional provider of accounting solutions for mid-sized enterprises, will be represented from 06/10/2010 to 08/10/2010 on the IT & Business in Stuttgart, the new IT trade fair for mid-sized enterprises.
In the center of their presentations in hall 1, booth 1A31, will be, on the one hand, the latest innovations of version "EVM 8.0". Fairgoers will have the opportunity to test version 8.0 of the sophisticated accounting solution, which is currently available in 28 country-specific versions on the IBM System i.
The new application client has been developed based on the latest technologies (such as Eclipse-RCP, Java and XML) and is definitely one of the highlights. Besides the possibility to adapt screens individually, any link (so-called hotspots) may be integrated into the application (e.g. links to guideline documentations in master data maintenance, to the optical archive of the voucher display or to Google Maps in the address maintenance). At the push of a button, all data available on screen can be transferred into Microsoft Excel® for further processing at any time. The Query Manager integrated in EVM 8.0 represents an interesting additional benefit.
Designed as a kind of business intelligence tool, reports or selections of master or transaction data can be realized quickly and easily. The System i database is being accessed, whereas also non-PORTOLAN data or data sources may be integrated for the purpose of query creation. Another advantage: any local / server-based third-party application as well as browser-based web applications may be integrated into the client, which represents the application platform.
Another focus will be the presentation of the latest PORTOLAN product LAP (Liquidity, Analysis, Planning). LAP is a tool for planning and ensuring liquidity in companies. Whether it is a due-day related determination of the respective current payment pattern of the customer, the automatic elimination of non-relevant "outliers" and long-running uncollectibles, the assessment of current order volumes of customers and vendors, a forecast of incoming and outgoing payments based on open items and budgeted values - each process must be carried out immediately and in a rolling way in order to obtain a realistic evaluation of the company's liquidity. Due to the high level of integration of LAP into PORTOLAN's financial accounting, first reports analyzing the liquidity will be available for the user after few hours already, enabling him to start the planning of important cash positions immediately.
